The coming storm! Tropical Storm JULIO on his way to San Juanico

John & I decided to spend the afternoon at the beach on Aug. 24, 2008. So, we set up our 'Easy-Up' brought out the cooler, lounge chairs and books and settled in for a relaxing afternoon on the beach!
(We didn't realize that there was a 'tropical storm' brewing.)

We were captivated by the amazing storm clouds!
Wow! that looks like a GIANT wave in the sky!!
Hmm.....maybe we should paddle in?.....NAH!
Oh Oh....Looks pretty ominous!!

"What do ya think?.......should we go in?........Nah."

The birds we 'high-tailing' it to shore. The locals all ran for shore and left the beach. John and fellow surfer FINALLY decided to come in. We almost lost our 'Easy-Up' , if not for the help of a kind local it would have sailed up the cliff. As John came in, the wind gusted and tore his board out of his arm, and it flew down the beach (luckily he was able to retrieve it). We got the 'Easy-up' down as we were pelted by rain, falling horizontally and high-tailed it up to our place on the hill. Whew!
The Weather-Rock, courtesy of Juan y Juan, was definitely WET!

Garry still looking for waves

HEY GUYS - Your "cloud" images have to be the best... every time I gaze at "clouds", I just see waves, or try too... like when you dream in Spanish, it's always on your mind... Jack and I were on our way back from a day of surfing north of Mazatlan, when we both saw this "CLOUD BREAK"... you never stop being a surfer...

Some exciting changes at Point Surf Baja

Construction has started on our 'shade' out front.

We are conducting 'business-as-usual' around the 'holes'.

"What the heck is that.....?"

The rumor is that a motorcycle crew is building a ramp on 1st point and is going to film the jumps as part of a movie. We will keep you updated.

Some 'celebs' visited San Juanico

Jack & Morgan stopped by to check out the weather. Hah!!!

Seriously, Loren Luyendyk and Aubrey Falk, Surfers Without Borders, stopped by Point Surf Baja. They are traveling the world surfing and sharing seeds and agricultural information to the communities they visit. Aubrey, on her surf quest is sponsored by Volcom. We enjoyed our visit with them and wish them luck on their adventure. You can check out their web-site at surferswithouborders.org

More of our trip home at the end of July

On our trip home we encounter the 'vine' that ate Mulege! This vine is taking over our friends house in Mulege. They thought the had killed it when they killed some weeds, but, I guess not! Hopefully their gardener has gotten it under control.

The mountains, Las Gigantes, south of Loreto, were breath taking!!

Another spectacular Baja sunset! Shot from the car on our way to Cd. Constitucion. We try not to travel at night, but, we had to get there and it wasn't completely dark, yet. Excuses, excuses, I know!

What a magnificent welcome home. The tree in front of Point Surf Baja in San Juanico.

Baja Hwy 1, on our trip home.

This part of Hwy 1 is in need of repair.

Foothills below Volcan Tres Virgenes. The colors were fascinating to me.
In all her glory, Volcan Tres Virgenes.

Taking a rest. The Maxima made the trip with out any problems. AND it is great to have a get around car in San Juanico.

There is some 'major' road-work being done on Baja's Hwy 1 just north of El Rosario
Drainage!?

These guys will appreciate the work being done!

I don't know if this guy even cares about road improvement?!
