In Feb. 2012 we visited San Javier Mission, north west of Loreto, BCS, Mexico. While we were there we were able to visit a 'huerta' of a local rancher.  Very interesting side trip.

On Guillermo's ranch is this 300 year old olive tree.  Amazing!

Our group was impressed!

TECATE BORDER CROSSING - DETOUR!!

So....after a great drive from Ensenada through the wine country we encountered a detour at the Tecate, BC, border crossing.  This detour starts after the 'shut-down' round about.   You will be directed to make a left hand turn about a quarter to a half mile from the regular turn to the border.  Thankfully the 'desviasion' is well marked!!

Then we were able to admire some interesting 'fence-art'.

Road Conditions-HWY 1-North of Jesus Maria, BC

This is Hwy 1 north of Jesus Maria, BC.  The road work continues north on past the military check-point. The road work is a continuation of the work done on Hwy that was abandoned last year, 2011.  The new road is very nice and it looks like the continuation will be just at nice.

This is the down-hill curve just north of the military check-point at  Tomatal.
New drainage showing how wide the road will become.
The surface is breaking up north of the Bahia de Los Angeles turn-off.  It will be interesting to see how it makes it thorough the HOT summer coming up.  We will keep you updated.

Road Conditions-San Ignacio, BCS to La Laguna, BCS

For those of you who travel from San Ignacio, BCS to La Laguna, BCS to go whale watching or those who go to San Juanico, BCS there is some good news....they are working on paving about 8 more miles of road.  They have already paved about 20 miles of the road and are now working on extending that.  It will definitely make the trip smoother.

Just got back from BAJA!

We left early Sat. morning Jun 23, 2012 to start our journey to San Juanico, BCS.  We stopped in Ensenada, BC to exchange money.  As you can see the exchange rate was 13.20 to 1.
Interesting truck-load.
We picked up some windows for our 5th wheel in Vicente Guerrero, BC.  Love the name of this place 'THE HOME CHEAP-O.  They have lots of building supplies at good prices.
We met these students at the Los Pinos Pemex south of San Quintin, BC. It sounds like an exciting 5 weeks.
